      Once I fixed the float bowl issue and also had to do the Coolant Tubes and seals because of the carb assembly removal. No more smoke. Too much fuel being dumped in from Number 1 carb float not even being hooked up to the pin. fixed a lot on this bike while waiting for parts. Glad you are here.

    I had this on my V45, when you look at the float needles, one end has a rubber cone that sits against the inlet, the other end that sits against the float will have a small needle that you should be able to push in and it should spring back, I suspect that one of those will be stuck in

    • @ZPDSurvival
      @ZPDSurvival 4 місяці тому

      I believe the rubber cone might be shot. A lot of gas poured out. Like half a shot glass. Thank you for the response. I did watch your video on a trip to the motorcycle place. They had a Magna just like mine almost. I went to their site also to check out their bike. Very cool place. Have a great day.

    try giving each float bowl a good tap with the back end of a screwdriver - may get it to seat, but if its overflowing probably dirt in one of those float needles

    • @ZPDSurvival
      @ZPDSurvival 4 місяці тому

      I think it is beyond tapping to loosen things up. The gas smells like a couple years old. So maybe it's been sitting for that long. It's funny because I noticed the oil filter part number is the same as my 97 Honda accord.

  • @ThatOldHonda
    @ThatOldHonda 4 місяці тому

    Without a doubt its a stuck carb float, float height may be set wrong, more likely its just a stuck float needle, you can actually get the float bowls off without taking the carbs off, but that tube being full means at least one of the carbs is overflowing into the plenum (box that holds the carbs together). Be careful as this can end up hydro-locking the cylinders if it gets enough gas through. Engine sounds sweet, very healthy

    • @ZPDSurvival
      @ZPDSurvival 4 місяці тому

      I suspect it is the front carb on the left side. It's sweating around the boot also. I don't want to wash down the cylinders. Thank you for confirming this. I might try to open the float bowl on the bike since it sounds good already. I am ready to do a complete cleaning if needed.

    Just noticed on the second bike, the exhaust is stock until the rear cans, Callipers are easy to rebuild, just push out the pistons with the brake lever (assuming the master cylinder works), take the pads out *one bolt to remove the pin holder, pins out, pads out) then use a block of wood to stop just one of them coming all the way out, clean em out, new seals, push em back in. Get a plastic syringe and do what I did on the V65 to bleed them. And with any of this - if you get stuck, give me a shout

    • @ZPDSurvival
      @ZPDSurvival 4 місяці тому

      I am keeping both Bikes. There is a reason for finding these. There is a lot of work to do. Taking a brake while I get back to business. This has been a trip. Your channel is very informative. Cheers. Thank you.

  • @ThatOldHonda
    @ThatOldHonda 4 місяці тому

    Also, when you get this beast running, take it easy, they pull like a train, but remember they are 40 year old bikes, with 40 year old brakes and suspension, but they still hold their own against modern bikes

    • @ZPDSurvival
      @ZPDSurvival 4 місяці тому

      I plan on taking it easy. Very powerful motor. I have been riding enduro's for eleven years. This is different or somewhat the same. I plan on finding a big parking lot and practicing circles in both directions until I get tighter and tighter to figure eights. Been watching training videos for riding big bikes. I like the fact I can take it easy at low RPM and if needed the power is there. Right now I am just getting used to pushing them around. Lol.

  • @ThatOldHonda
    @ThatOldHonda 4 місяці тому

    Man I just wrote all this one but got an error :( - Nice bikes buddy, that first one is really nice, 2nd one definitely saveable, you could do that second one up cheap and sell it and pay for the other one outright - basically free bike. Don't worry about the licence plate holder, they are mounted differently on US spec bikes, on UK ones they are mounted upside down to yours, mine mounts to where the Honda badge is and the Honda badge on mine is smaller and mounts to where your licence plate bracket is. Your licence plate is mounted to the plastic tool box and that is on the sissy bar, just loosen it all up and line it back up

    • @ThatOldHonda
      @ThatOldHonda 4 місяці тому

      Also, on the 1st bike, do the carbs and tappets, one of which is what I suspect is causing the smoke on yours, I just did mine, watch the series on my V45 Magna - ua-cam.com/video/f0TYWPiWEvA/v-deo.html don't be put off by people telling you they are hard to get out, its a bit of a struggle, but tips are on my videos, make sure you push carb cleaner through all the little channels, take the jets out like I did on my V65 videos and when you are putting them back together, make sure you line up those velocity tubes on the plenum (big ally box the carbs mount to)

    • @ThatOldHonda
      @ThatOldHonda 4 місяці тому

      Do the tappets too - really easy, again, watch the videos I did last year, there are plenty of videos showing how to set the gaps out there, great one by a guy called Addix (I think)

    • @ZPDSurvival
      @ZPDSurvival 4 місяці тому

      I was going to try and loosen the bolts and line it up right. I am glad you suggested the same thing. Thank You.

      @@ThatOldHonda I will be going through everything. I asked the people of the first bike if they adjusted the valves and or rebuilt the carbs. Nope. Going through all of that. I saw another guy using wratchet straps to push the carb unit into the boots. Looked like it worked well.
